Special Education Teacher

 

The Academy for Global Citizenship, a contract school, is seeking a Special EducationTeacher.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify students with learning, social and emotional disabilities.

• Review previous IEP, ensuring coordination of services already required.

• Developing new IEP’s in consultation with diagnostic team.

• Meet with preschools of children already identified to receive special education services.

• Meet with parents of children already identified to receive special education services in their homes prior to the beginning of the school year.

• Provide in-service training and daily support to teachers.

• Coordinate services indicated in the IEP.

• Work with Principal in identifying appropriate classroom aides to be hired, as indicated in the IEP.

• Coordinate transportation to and from school.

• Develop and administer summer school programs as indicated.

• Maintain all records for special education students.

• Arrange accommodations for standardized testing as well as regular classroom assessments.

• Coordinates IEP meetings

• Work with International Baccalaureate Program so that collaborative learning with other Special Education Directors and teachers enhances the achievement and learning environment of all students while maintaining the Learning Profile of the IBO.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Case manager experience for Special Education students

• Experience coordinating and conducting IEP meetings

• 2 years classroom teaching Special Education students

• Past collaboration in training and support of regular education teachers and staff

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

• Master’s degree in Special Education or related fields (preferred)

• Type 03 and Type 10 certification
