Healthy Lifestyles Teacher
Perspectives Charter School - Calumet Middle School is seeking a
Healthy Lifestyles Teacher.
Essential functions:
- Provide an academically rigorous curriculum that aligns with both Perspectives' standards and the Illinois Teaching Standards
- Prepare lesson plans, outlines and/or syllabi that reflect the cultivation of Healthy Lifestyles
- Co-plan with other subject-matter instructions to integrate health and fitness across curriculums
- Offer alternative, performance, force-choice and creative assessments and activities
- Plan and facilitate field studies to support and enhance classroom curriculum Maintain accurate student grades, records and/or portfolios
- Provide input and support grade level, subject matter and instructional leader led meetings
- Model and teach The Perspectives Way Teach and/or facilitate the A Disciplined Life curriculum
- Implement and monitor both the school uniform and discipline codes
- Cultivate and support parent and family involvement in school curriculum and school life
- Participate and lead professional development programs
- Participate in CORE and CAMP each summer
- Duties as assigned in support of A Disciplined Life
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with certification in Physical Fitness, Kinesiology or area of study appropriate to teach health and fitness
- Experience in the transfer of knowledge to middle school or high school students
- Ability to develop and foster successful teacher/student relationships
- Ability to work collaboratively with teams and nurture collegial relationships
- Proven organizational skills
- Proven ability to work well with diverse constituents
- Proven ability to verbally communicate ideas effectively
- Proven ability to exercise initiative and discretion in the performance of position responsibilities
