Associate Program Director, Gary Comer Youth Center

Position Summary

The Associate Program Director manages the design, coordination and execution of all programs at the Gary Comer Youth Center.  The position reports to the Senior Program Director.

Having opened its doors in June 2006, the state-of-the-art Gary Comer Youth Center (GCYC) offers positive extracurricular alternatives in a welcoming and safe environment. The mission is to provide the support for all members to graduate from high school, prepared to pursue college and careers. Located on Chicago’s South Side, the Gary Comer Youth Center draws its primary membership from the youth of the South Shore Drill Team, Paul Revere School and Alumni Association, and the local community.  For more information:  www.gcychome.org

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Assists with supervision of GCYC program partners and instructors (trainings, administrative support, hiring, and evaluation).
• Implements all GCYC program policies and procedures.
• Prepares GCYC internal and external promotional materials.
• Develops and maintains of quarterly and special programming schedules.
• Responsible for member and program registration administration, as well as member recruitment.
• Assists with program/grant compliance through program evaluations and supervises the maintenance of accurate GCYC program data for evaluation purposes.
• Lead for member special activities/events, as well as spring break & specialty camps.
• Special projects as assigned by the Senior Program Director.

Experience / Education:  Five plus years of experience working directly with youth and program development preferred.  Undergraduate degree required.  Masters degree is a plus.

Qualifications include: 

• Demonstrated leadership with of youth development/programming principles.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Must demonstrate cultural competency, dedication to working with youth, families and community members in our care.
• Competency in MS office applications and familiarity with grants management.

Salary:  Dependent upon qualifications and experience.
