KIPP School Leader

Job Goal:

Strategically plan and implement the school’s mission through the efficient and effective management of the school’s student, teacher and parent programs; provide the leadership that will result in an instructional program that prepares every student for the successful
matriculation into a four-year college or university.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification: Bachelor’s Degree (required); Master’s Degree (preferred)
Experience: 3-5 years of teaching and leadership in a low income school with demonstrated exemplary student results.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
(1) Ability to effectively manage instructional and non-instructional personnel;
(2) Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness;
(3) Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills;
(4) Ability to implement effective business systems that ensure proper stewardship of school funds;
(5) Ability to exercise excellent judgment in decision-making;
(6) Knowledge in the selection, training, and supervision of personnel; and
(7) Knowledge of the laws, rules, procedures, and programs specifically related to the operation of charter
schools.

• Self-aware: Aware of own strengths and weaknesses, work relentlessly to improve upon weaknesses, are open to feedback, able to take blame for failures, show balance in confidence vs. humility, and behave professionally.
• Adaptable: Manage uncertainty, demonstrate resilience, resolve, and flexibility in face of change.
• Critical thinker and decision-maker: Analyze information and organize thinking to solve problems and make decisions that are aligned with an extraordinary goal. Can think on the fly and clarify when information is unclear.
• Communication: Speak and write effectively. Speak articulately. Inspire through communication.
• Personal organization: Prioritize and multi-task effectively. Are punctual, prepared, detail-oriented.
• Inspirational leadership: Demonstrate integrity, KIPP values, vision for/experience with getting kids to college, willingness to challenge tradition.
