Biology Teacher

Join a STONG team at Howard Area Leadership Academy (HALA). They are hiring a biology teacher who will have opportunities to: develop innovative curriculum, teach creatively, team teach, get to know students well, work within a 4 period block schedule (teach three 75 minute periods, one 75 minute prep period), plan/lead/develop extra-curricular activities, take a role in overall school leadership (as desired), and make a large difference in the lives of students.

They are a small school of 125 students aged 16-21 who have dropped out or been kicked out of other Chicago Public Schools. We currently have 11 full time teachers, 5 full time counselors, two co-principals, one education director, and a tight knit, diverse, highly educated and committed staff. We are located in Chicago's most diverse neighborhood (Rogers Park), very near public transit. They are a school with tremendous potential working in an area ("dropout" retrieval) of HIGH need and HIGH regional and national visibility. Someone with the right vision and commitment could join them in taking this school to high prominence!
