
Director of Assessment and Evaluation
Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities are envisioned to encompass, but are not limited to:
Standardized Testing & Assessment
· Determine testing schedule and prepare testing materials
· Provide schools support with coordinating internal and state assessments for students
· Ensure that test proctors are trained and supervised
· Ensure that schools maintain the integrity of testing environment and materials
· Assist with setting annual benchmarks for student progress based on current trend
· Provide strategies for teachers to prepare students for testing
· Evaluate program effectiveness and impact (i.e. tutoring)
· Keep current on assessment by researching best practices for improving test scores, effective assessment practices and evaluation Interim Assessments
· Oversee and support the interim assessments program by coordinating with staff to develop test specifications and tests that meet those specifications
· Manage Pearson Benchmark by resolving technical issues and keeping student information curren
t · Train necessary staff on Pearson Benchmark or coordinate the appropriate training
· Maintain a testing calendar that returns data to teachers within 24 hours
· Develop a data analysis protocol and re-teaching plan that teachers use to analyze student mastery data
· Facilitate network-wide data analysis meetings
· Network with professionals external to the organization to continually stay abreast of current research and improve the interim assessment program
Data Management
· Collect data from a multitude of sources
· Maintain current and accurate data at the students and school levels
· Review all data for accuracy and investigate questionable data and takes corrective action when necessary
· Analyzing and reporting data in a timely and accessible manner
· Extract Powerschool data and feed to internal (i.e. principals) and external (CREDO) sources
· Create reports for internal and external audiences
· Keep a laser focus on test score trends (ACT, ISAT, PLAN, EXPLORE, PSAE, SDT etc…)
· Conduct extensive analysis of student assessment data for each school to provide information for developing strategic and professional development plans
· Share formative and summative data
· Identify the strengths and weaknesses of Perspectives assessment program
· Develop and ensure the smooth and efficient survey and data collection activities
· Act as the primary administrative point of contact for internal score card, external score card and measurements of success document
· Compile and prepare all student achievement data in an easy-to-read format with data reports and analyses setting forth strengths and weaknesses in student learning and make appropriate recommendations for action
· Collect and document policies/procedures for Chief Academic Officer
Data Driven Culture
· Meet with staff to facilitate data driven professional development
· Develop processes to engage students and parents in monitoring and setting goals for students’ progress
· Populate PowerSchool with current and accurate students assessment data
· Set expectations for school and SHOP data walls Evaluation
· Oversee the ongoing evaluation of student learning (pay close attention to what schools are doing surrounding standardized testing and assessment in general)
· Provide summaries of teacher and instructional leader evaluations
· Provide summaries of professional development evaluations
· Coordinate, collect, analyze and present data from teacher, parent and student surveys
Accountability
· Develop and maintain an academic accountability plan and monitoring tools
· Manage school accountability and adequate yearly progress
· Provide leadership in compliance through knowledge of charter, state and federal requirements and standards
· Coordinate and prepare the Illinois State School Report Card in accordance with state accountability requirements and manage the data exchange
· Oversee the data needs for accountability agreement with the Charter School Office
Specialized Services
· Oversee the provision of accommodations and modifications to student assessments required for students with disabilities, section 504 plans, or limited English proficient students
Administrative
· Make decisions, in consultation with the Chief Academic Officer, on planning, implementing and monitoring, student assessment and school accountability systems within the schools
· Develop three-year assessment and evaluation plan inclusive of vision, goals, and actions steps etc.
· Develop and/or implement evaluation/quality assurance tools · Assist with policy development and implementation
· Develop, update, and distribute relevant printed media to key stakeholders
· Provide professional development for key stakeholders
Qualifications
Education A master’s degree in a relevant field is required.
Experience Candidates should possess 3-5 years of experience in school administration and/or classroom teaching, training and experience in educational measurement and school accountability programs
Skills · Excellent organizing and coordinating skills · Skill in collecting, analyzing, verifying, and manipulating research data · Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports · Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques · Records maintenance skills · Excellent problem solving skills · High level of computer literacy with spreadsheets, word processing and database software and/or business systems · Ability to navigate basic web- and PC- based test generating programs · Ability to interpret test scores and measurement terminology · Proven skills in coordinating and project management · Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills · Ability to multi-task Knowledge Knowledge or experience with: · Illinois Standardized Testing · Familiarity with recent research and development pertaining to student assessment and school accountability. · Stanford Diagnostic Testing · Statistical software (preferably SPSS)
