4-7th Grade Science Instructor

 

Galapagos Charter School (GCS) is searching for a science instructor for grades four through seven.

Deadline: June 5, 2008

The instructor should:

  • Have as strong academic background in science
  • Be capable of delivering high quality instruction with a focus on the scientific method and hands-on experiments
  • Be able to assist in the design of a quality science program
  • Develop/utilize appropriate instructional strategies to meet individual needs
  • Create a positive learning environment
  • Collect and assess student work in a timely manner
  • Develop recommendations, supported by adequate student assessments, for promotion
  • Oversee, enforce and document student discipline/supervision in accordance with GCS policies
  • Develop, submit and discuss lesson plans with the Director of Academics
  • Ensure substitutes are adequately prepared
  • Monitor classroom inventory
  • Organize and lead a school wide science fair

Outside the classroom:

  • Oversee student discipline/supervision in common areas
  • Promote the values and policies of GCS
  • Conduct peer and self evaluations
  • Develop/maintain/document consistent communications with parents/guardians
  • Organize and lead one after-school program
