RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and implement an instructional program to engage the learner and provide a variety of methods for the student to demonstrate performance and accomplishments. Advise teachers and administrators in curriculum development consistent with the school's philosophy, instructional goals and school level objectives. Assess faculty professional development needs and help teachers develop individualized teacher professional development plans. Teach and support faculty in the analysis and use of assessment data to inform instruction. Create classroom observation rubrics and promote peer observation of instruction. Monitor and assess the instructional programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans, observing classes and providing feedback to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with growth and development. Provide opportunities for effective staff development that address the needs of the instructional program and needs of the staff. Coordinate the school-wide professional development activities. Establish procedures for evaluation and selection of instructional materials and equipment and make recommendations on the purchase of instructional materials. Produce monthly Curriculum and Professional Development Newsletter. Maintain positive, cooperative, and mutually supportive relationships with the central administration, parents, and representatives of resource agencies. Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, school personnel, and agencies associated with the school. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field. A minimum of five years of related experience with teachers of middle/high schools. Experience in content area coaching and professional development Expertise in curriculum development and educational policies and practices. Excellent interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills.
