The newest campus of the University of Chicago Charter School opened in autumn 2008 as a middle school, named for one of the University’s first African American graduates, Carter G. Woodson. The Carter G. Woodson campus of the University of Chicago Charter School serves grades six through eight in a Chicago Public Schools facility at 4444 S. Evans Ave. It is located in Bronzeville next to an existing Chicago public school, the Carter G. Woodson Elementary School, which serves grades kindergarten through eight. The Social Studies Teacher will be responsible for providing social studies instruction for grades 6 - 8.
•Excellent teacher with proven experience enabling urban students to meet high expectations
•Reflective and receptive to providing and receiving professional feedback, video taping, and coaching
•Collaborative, collegial, goal oriented, mission driven, accountable, responsible, self managed, and self motivated
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree, appropriate state certification in social studies teaching
•At least two years of urban teaching experience
