The Academic Director position for Galapagos Rockford is an exciting opportunity to be part of the opening of a new school. Galapagos will be the first charter school to open in the city.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all academic programming
- Provide instructional and classroom management support of all instructional staff
- Develop relevant professional development programming
- Manage all disciplinary matters
- Analyze data in order to drive school wide improvement
- Create and ensure a culture in which academic achievement is the overarching goal
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in education administration, and 5 years as a classroom instructor preferably in an urban, charter environment
- Experience creating and delivering professional development tailored to specific identified needs
- Experience coaching instructors in the areas of classroom management and instruction with the end result being increase student achievement
GRCS will open with Kindergarten - 3rd grade in the fall of 2009. GRCS will eventually grow to be a K-8 building.
