The LEARN Charter School Network is a network of college preparatory elementary schools located in Chicago, dedicated to providing our students with the academic foundation and ambition to earn a college degree. Our college preparatory elementary schools provide a rigorous educational program that is built upon an intimate understanding of each student’s individual learning style and academic needs. We have an impressive track record, aggressive growth plans, and are recruiting for an exceptional founding leader for our South Chicago campus, slated to open in fall 2010.

Responsibilities
•Drive instruction and performance outcomes for students
•Recruit, select, coach, inspire, and retain high quality instructional staff; lead professional development
•Create and maintain a school culture and climate that reflects LEARN’s core values
•Work collaboratively with our parents and staff to meet the social, emotional, psychological, and physical needs of our students
•Manage day-to-day school responsibilities, including direct supervision of the Assistant Principal, Master Teacher(s), teaching staff, and the administrative support team
•Refine, implement, and manage curriculum and assessments to meet school performance goals
•Advance the LEARN vision through instructional expertise and leadership
•Work collaboratively with teachers and other administrators to develop and implement best practices throughout the network
Requirements:
Required Qualifications
•Skilled instructional leadership ability, with a proven track record of driving high levels of student academic achievement
•5+ years of teaching experience as a master teacher or instructional coach
•Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and collaborate with professionals and a diverse group of stakeholders
•Excellent analytical skills and the ability to create and implement plans of action to get desired results
•Demonstrated commitment to the charter school movement, with a passion for educating low income students
•Experienced in implementing educational programs such as Balanced Literacy, STEP and MAP assessment tools with successful outcomes
•Adept at interacting with a diverse group of stakeholders ranging from students and families to donors and board members
•Track record of using data to drive school-wide decision-making
•Experience with serving ELL students and families; demonstrated ability to drive strong academic gains with ELL students
Preferred Qualifications
•Experience with a school start-up from planning to launch (student and teacher recruitment, community relations, budgeting, procurement, culture creation, academic programs, etc.)
