Noble Street Charter School opened in 1999 with the mission of preparing Chicago students to become productive citizens. The core values for students and staff at Noble Street are scholarship, discipline and honor. Noble Street Charter School is the top-performing open enrollment high school in Chicago according to 2009 ACT scores with nine campuses serving nearly 4,000 students this year. Our students are 85% low-income and almost all will be the first in their family to attend college. In 2005, the Noble Network of Charter Schools was established to replicate the Noble model in cooperation with the Chicago Public Schools' Renaissance 2010 program. The Development Department is critical to the success of Noble Network and its mission to serve the many communities in Chicago who need access to quality high schools. Development supports the mission of Noble Network by pursuing public and private grants as well as soliciting private individuals to support our program and enable us to serve the needs of more students.

Job Overview

The Noble Network seeks a Development Associate to support the overall goals of the Noble Network by focusing on opportunities for competitive government funding, including researching, evaluating, completing applications for city, state and federal competitive grants; by supporting the Chief Development Officer's work to secure government funds through lobbying and other efforts; and by supporting the work of the other development professionals in an administrative role.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Understand all sources for information on available competitive government funds, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of upcoming grant deadlines
  • Evaluate opportunities against Noble's needs and programs and submit applications for appropriate grant competitions
  • Manage all grants awarded including: ensure that proposed activities are carried out and required data is recorded and complete necessary reports on funds
  • Support the Noble Network's lobbying efforts by leading research on potential sources of funds, creating necessary materials for lobbying efforts and understanding the interests of our political representatives and how they align with Noble's work
  • Administrative tasks to advance the shared fundraising goal of the Noble Network Candidate

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of work experience
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in political fundraising, preferably with focus on government grants or lobbying
  • Outstanding writing skills and comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft office suite
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, respond to a rapidly changing environment and deal with ambiguity
  • Determination and commitment to "get it right"
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Highly motivated, energetic and able to take initiative in personal work plan while contributing to team and organizational goals
