Full Description:

  • Coach teachers during one-on-ones to review big picture interim and EPAS data so as to consider employing the Signature Strategies in their re-teaching of missed skills
  • The English High School Turnaround Coach is responsible for conducting classroom visits and providing feedback on planning around standards, indicators, and diagnostics to all teachers in the content area.
  • Plan and lead one content team meeting a month that reflects Signature Strategies, DDI, grading, and/or Danielson
  • Professionally develop teachers around Signature Strategies, whether individually, team-level, school-level, or network-wide
  • Advise and coach teachers on how to progress on Danielson continuum
  • Oversee the development of curriculum & assessment projects for his or her content area
  • Serve as the expert on AUSL curricular models, assessment systems, and grading practices for all who need to know and learn about these at the schools
  • Dive into student academic data three times a year during the Data Dialogues and make plans on how to help teachers get more skilled in the Signature Strategies so as to boost academic achievement
  • Participate in the Danielson Diagnostics along with the Administration and AUSL HS Program Team
  • Discuss global information as it relates to all content area teachers' progression on the Danielson Domains and make recommendations regarding who is "mentor ready" and who needs more skill building
  • Convene before school starts to plan the school-wide PD plan for the year
  • Participate in once-monthly Instruction Leadership Team (ILT) meetings (along with all Coaches and TLs)
  • Share detailed data around instructional efficacy as it relates to data driven instruction
  • Convene with the TL to discuss decisions regarding which teachers are best skilled for which courses
  • Scaffold all weekly team meetings for the content area with the TL for the entire year before the school year
  • Communicate transparently regarding all planning as it relates to the team
  • Discuss content and make decisions regarding content materials to drive the AUSL standards-based scope and sequence

 

Requirements:

Minimum of four years of teaching experience in an urban school.

Outstanding teaching competency.

Outstanding understanding of Charlotte Danielson and knowledge of effective 9-12 instructional practices.

Outstanding understanding of Data Driven Instruction.

Outstanding understanding of aligned assessment systems.

Strong familiarity with the ACT College Readiness Standards.

Professional Development leadership experience.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent listening capacity.

Ability to organize materials, data, and to prioritize tasks.

Commitment to facilitating and/or leading professional development during the summer.

Preference for selection will be influenced by candidates who:

Have a Master's degree in education.

Received the top rating in overall performance evaluations as a classroom teacher.

Are National Board Certified or a Golden Apple Award recipient, or who are currently applying for National Board Certification with a commitment to achieve.
