Full Description:

  • Mentor teachers, provide a framework for curriculum, teaching practices and the Perspectives Way
  • Develop and manage goals and objectives for teachers in order to increase teacher effectiveness and curriculum alignment
  • Work one-on-one with Sped team to develop growth plans as professionals (bi-weekly meetings, goal setting, observations, etc…)
  • Create/develop/identify professional development (inside and outside PCS)
  • Research and shape best practices, curriculums and school-wide projects
  • Ensure teachers attend to increased student performance on standardized tests, and meeting the State and College Readiness standards
  • Coordinate curriculum development and evaluation in special education areas
  • Collaborate with IL team
  • Visit classes to observe, assist and document the work of special education teachers in order to coach, evaluate and make recommendations
  • Create professional development for PCS @ CORE and throughout the school year
  • Provide support and professional development to SPED teachers
  • Create/update resource library for Sped teachers (including audio library)
  • Order supplies for SPED team (audio books, books, software, etc…)
  • Provide professional development & general support re: team teaching and making modifications for general education and special needs teachers
 

Administrative Organization & Coordination Support

  • Ensure that the Special Education plan and strategy are realized
  • Serve as a technical consultant to teachers, principals and other administrators in all areas of special education
  • Keep other administrators and teachers informed of current trends and innovation for improving the quality of Perspectives special education program and give leadership in promoting a climate for desirable change
  • Coordination of SPED teachers
  • Collaborate with social work team (progress, reporting out, referrals, scheduling evaluations, attending IEP meetings)
  • Identify and register IAA coordinator/testing accommodations
  • Create schedule for state standardized/IA testing - collate material with the aid of instructional team
  • Coordinate support and professional development for all teachers regarding special education
  • Collaborate with Principal and Asst. Principal
  • Help facilitate the creation/coordination of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) E
  • nsuring full participation and collaboration between content area & special needs teachers in planning, teaching, and other activities related to servicing students with special needs
  • General IL responsibilities for the special needs teachers
