Under the supervision of the Principal, the teacher is responsible for providing an educational
atmosphere where students have the opportunity to meet or exceed academic expectations while
fulfilling their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. The teacher is
responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students
achieving academic success in accordance with Rowe Elementary School policies.
Student Expectations:
• Designs and implements instructional lessons that are targeted to meet the academic needs of
students
• Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively
engaged in meaningful learning experiences
• Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with
varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs
• Uses a data-driven approach to modify/adapt instructional plans in order to maximize student
learning
• Ensures that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group,
subject area, and/or program classification
• Assumes responsibility for meeting his/her classroom goals and school-wide student
performance goals and continuously demonstrates gains in student academic performance
• Actively participates in training and presentations about instructional planning and effective
execution
• Ensures proper planning, design, and implementation of homework policy
• Works diligently to identify progress and gaps in student academic performance and can
modify instructional plans accordingly
• Provides a positive learning environment in which students are encouraged to be actively
engaged in the learning process
• Responsible for monitoring students’ academic progress and for coordinating programs and
support services to ensure academic success for all students
• Maintains effective and efficient record keeping procedures of academic and behavioral
outcomes
Professional Relationships & Expectations:
• Models school core values and can effectively communicate school mission and vision in a
compelling manner
• Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other
professionals on a regular basis
• Collaborates with peers to maximize student learning and enhance instructional environment
• Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and
community
• Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines,
honoring schedules, collaborating with peers, and working with parents to maximize student
learning
• Cooperates with other school staff and is prepared to assume various responsibilities and
assignments as needed
• Facilitates teacher-parent relationships in the areas of academics, discipline, and student
support services
• Facilitates student-parent contact regarding performance and/or discipline of classroom
students
• Makes referrals and conducts follow-up for students in need of support services (i.e.
counseling, emergency assistance, legal advice, tutoring, etc.); works in conjunction with
principal, dean, directors, and parent coordinator to ensure such referrals are made and
followed-up
Additional Expectations:
• Dress professionally at all times
• Ensure all certification paperwork is completed and submitted in a timely manner
• Take vacation only during summer months or on school holidays
• Willingness to participate in a 5-day residential camping experience with students during the
school year
• Three-week professional development during the summer
• Strong desire to be challenged professionally and challenge colleagues in an effort to maximize
student achievement
• Organize workload and prioritize demands to meet deadlines
• Complete all credentialing requirements as directed
Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Requirements:
• Belief and alignment with school’s core beliefs and educational philosophy
• Minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience required; strong instructional planner and
effective executer as well as a proven record of student academic success
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; flexible, able to work
autonomously as well as take directions as needed; willingness to assume a variety of
assignments
• Ability to work with students and their families in a variety of capacities
• Ability to pinpoint issues causing academic failure and identify appropriate solutions
• Ability to consistently and fairly articulate and enforce school rules
• Ability to organize and maintain student files
• Strong organizational skills; extremely careful attention to detail and follow-through
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and ability to build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders
