College for All Cooperative
Special Opportunity: Join CFA for the 2009-2010 School Year!
The INCS College for All Cooperative (CFA) is a professional development and consulting program aimed at helping schools strengthen their college-going cultures and college access support systems – at both the middle school and high school levels.
INCS piloted CFA with our first cohort of six schools during the 2008 calendar year. Four schools returned in 2009 for the “Advanced Cohort,” and four additional schools joined the second cohort of the program. The first year and a half of phenomenal programming included:
- Twelve highly-rated professional development seminars focused on creating a college-going culture and developing college counseling support systems, with a focus on college access support along a grades 6-16 arc;
- Expert presentations at nearly all seminars from college admissions and financial aid officials;
- Individualized consulting projects that helped schools to translate learning from professional development seminars back to their schools and to go deeper in specific areas of need;
- Connections to colleges and universities, including the capstone first-in-the-nation “Meet the Charter Schools Reception” in April 2009, where admissions officials from more than 30 colleges across the country – from UIC (IL) to College of Wooster (OH) to Tufts University (MA) – learned about and networked with CFA charter schools;
- Resource and knowledge sharing by our experienced College for All Consultant, Willard M. Dix, who provides 30 years of experience as a teacher, college admissions officer and college counselor;
- Peer-to-peer networking with other college counselors, staff and school leaders.
- A customized, interactive website – “CFA Office Hours” – that facilitates access to resources, information on key events and opportunities and information sharing.
We are now thrilled to open this valuable program to additional schools in September 2009!
Who should join?
- CFA welcomes all public schools – charter schools and all types of in-district schools. Currently, participants include both stand-alone schools and school networks.
- Within each school or school network, participants include high school college counselors, elementary/middle school counselors and graduate support staff, school leaders and other staff members involved in the college process.
