According to the RAND Corporation, for the average eighth-grade charter student continuing on to a charter high school can result in an advantage of 7 percentage points in the probability of graduating from high school and an 11 percentage points in the likelihood of enrolling in college.

More charter school students than Chicago Public School students graduate from high school on time.

73% of students entering Chicago's charter high schools in 2008 graduated on time, compared to 68% overall in the district.

Charter school students have a high rate of advancement to higher education.

76% of charter high school graduates are enrolled in post-secondary education.

Charter schools serve far more low-income students than public schools in Illinois overall.

74% of Illinois charter school students and 41% of Illinois public school students come from low-income backgrounds.
