INCS Statement on EMSA Approval

The Illinois Network of Charter Schools (INCS) congratulates the Elgin Math and Science Academy (EMSA) on their approval by the Illinois State Charter School Commission.

EMSA will be the first charter public school in District U-46, the second largest district in Illinois, and will offer an EL Education model to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The charter public school is slated to open in the fall of 2018 with 200 students in grades K-3 and will grow to serve students in K-8.

Every family in Illinois deserves access to a high-quality public school that meets their child’s needs. EMSA will bring families in District U-46 one step closer to achieving that reality.
