An exhibition of Illinois Charter Student artwork
Illinois Network of Charter Schools and The Weinberg/ Newton Gallery present:
Young people make up nearly a quarter of the population of Illinois, but their voices and perspectives are often left out of discussions. We are creating a space for students to share their perspective through art that answers the question:
Dreams express our desires for ourselves and our world. We hope students will use this question as the inspiration for their artwork. Students’ works of art will give viewers insight into young people’s hearts and minds. These works may also begin conversations that will help to make those dreams become reality.
Artists currently enrolled in grades 6th–12th in an Illinois charter school are encouraged to submit an original artwork in the medium of their choice: Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Collage, Photography, Video, Fiber, Comic, Etc. Submissions are due by 11:59pm CT on Friday, March 24. Read our frequently ask questions here.
Applications will be judged by a panel of Chicago-based creative professionals. All submissions will be showcased as part of the INCS Student Art Exhibition & Fair April 21 – 23, 2023 at the Weinberg/Newton Gallery.
Student artwork will be recognized and awarded at the Weinberg/Newton Gallery during an evening reception and displayed throughout that weekend. Friends, families, and student artists are invited to join for the evening reception and/or the exhibition hours throughout the weekend.
