Students nationwide from all types of schools competed in MathCON 2015: Stronger Math, Brighter Future, a popular math competition for students in grades 5-12, on Saturday, April 25. They took an online assessment that covered several mathematical disciplines, including algebra, geometry, measurement, data analysis, number systems, and pre-calculus, to qualify. This year, out of the 45,000 students who entered the competition, over 700 qualified to advance to the finals at the University of Illinois at Chicago to rival head to head, brain to brain. These finalists traveled from as far away as California, Nevada, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Texas. First place winners in each grade received an Apple iPad Mini; second place winners received $200.00; and third place winners were awarded $150.00. MathCON even had Honorable Mentions awarded to students who placed 4th through 10th. For more information about this event, click here.
