5th Grade ELA/Social Studies Instructor

Alain Locke Charter is currently seeking a full-time ELA/Social Studies instructor for 5th grade. Immediate opening.

The following list of job requirements describes the general level of work being performed by staff members assigned to this job and is not meant to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.
• Create a positive educational climate that is conducive to learning
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures
• Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that maximize learning opportunities and provide real-world application that reflect core-aligned expectations
• Incorporate into planning, as appropriate, all that is required by the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP)
• Utilize various curriculum resources and school-wide assessments
• Utilize a variety of learning strategies in each lesson that includes differentiated instruction within those lessons
• Assess student strengths and weaknesses on a frequent basis (i.e. observe and evaluate student performance, utilize diagnostic assessment of student learning, etc.)
• Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed as well as maintain grade books
• Participate in the Response to Intervention process which includes planning and facilitating individualized strategic intervention to address student needs and generate progress reports as required
• Participate in school-wide professional development opportunities
• Participate with other staff members in curriculum planning during designated meetings
• Communicate with parents/ guardians when appropriate
• Contribute to the accomplishment of school and classroom goals
• Coordinate class field trips

• Bachelors Degree (BA)
• Professional Educator License
• Teaching experience
