Director of Operations
The OD is responsible for all leadership and management issues related to the ‘business’ of The Academy for Global Citizenship, including but not limited to finance, human resources, facility, advocacy, board governance, compliance, and development.
The OD works alongside the principal in leading and representing AGC to ensure a high quality education for our students and efficient and productive operations.
Manages, reviews, and oversees the Operational and Capital budgets, quarterly and annual financial statements for the school
Manages all banking business and technology related vendor relationships, flows of funds, procurement, etc., and ensures an effective system of internal control is present.
Leads and reviews Chicago Public School compliance and public funding reporting
Oversees all transactions and reporting related to tax credit financing
Manages annual audit for the school
Provides accounting and reporting for all gifts, grants and donations.
Maintains QuickBooks data entry.
Creates monthly reviews of the school’s financial condition and performance relative to financial objectives for the principal, BoD and ED.
Manages financial and accounting policies.
Implements business processes to ensure adequate financial and cost controls.
Supervises maintenance and security staff
Manages maintenance systems and procedures to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Identifies, analyzes and coordinates all capital projects
Oversees annual maintenance projects with internal staff and outside vendors
Oversees and effectively implements all policies and procedures related to hiring and terminations
Stays abreast of changes in HR laws and updates the HR policies accordingly, in conjunction with the community
Manages relationships with business partners for benefit plans and legal advisors for general HR issues
Oversees all policies and procedures related to payroll, including tracking absences and reasons for absences
Manages relationships with the Chicago Teacher Pension Fund and 403(b) management representatives
Serves on the Finance, Facility, and Development Committees of the Board of Directors (BoD)
Leads the Finance and Facility committee meetings
Prepares and delivers reports to the Board on school operations including, but not limited to, Finance, Facility, Advocacy and Human Resources
Ensures adherence to BoD bylaws and legal compliance requirements
Acts as FOIA Officer (responds to all FOIA requests)
Ensures updated board roster, contact information and other board records
Participates in CPS, Charter and Garfield Ridge neighborhood advocacy groups as assembled
Represents AGC in INCS meetings and legislative advocacy, with the support of the Principal
Keeps board informed on advocacy issues
Manages relationship with third-party contractor for development initiatives
Represents AGC in donor cultivation and relationship management activities

Required Skills and Experience
Familiarity with CPS compliance reporting, as well as state and federal program reporting
Minimum of 5 years experience managing financial reporting and budgets for non-profit or educational institutions
Fully versed in accounting principles, balance sheets, and financial statements
Experience managing the audit process for non-profit
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience with operations and facility management
Experience with a charter school or a charter network preferred
Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
CSBO endorsement, school business management, or human resource credentials preferred
