The East St. Louis Charter High School is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, School Counselor vacancy. The SIUE East St. Louis Charter High School serves a total of 120 students from grades 9-12. Students access the latest technology, equipment and curricula in their STEM classroom and other STEM initiatives.
As a member of the school’s support staff team, the Counselor will provide a comprehensive guidance program for students as appropriate to their grade level. The Counselor provides direction, resources, and assistance to Charter High School students and consults with teachers, staff, and parents to enhance their effectiveness in helping students succeed and be college/career ready. This position will help students understand and overcome social or behavioral problems through classroom guidance lessons in addition to providing individual or small group counseling services on the basis of student and school needs. The Counselor will also advise students academically, helping them set realistic short/long term goals and complete graduation requirements as set forth by ISBE. The selected candidate will establish and expedite programs and activities to assist students with being college and/or career ready upon graduation, including college field trips, dual enrollment options, and other area programs. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the school.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
-Candidates must hold an Illinois Type 73 School Counselor Certificate.
-Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills are required.
-Master’s degree in school counseling is preferred.
-A minimum of 2 years of high school teaching experience.
-Experience with Master Scheduling and working with Electronic Student data bases.
-Successful experience working with college and career placement.
