Social Studies Instructor (5-6 Grade)- Alain Locke

Alain Locke Charter is currently seeking a 5-6 grade social studies instructor for the 2023-24 school year.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The following job requirements describes the general level of work being performed by staff members assigned to this job and is not meant to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.

Contribute to the accomplishment of school and classroom goals
Create a positive educational climate that is conducive to learning
Manage student behavior in the classroom
Plan, prepare and deliver standards-aligned instruction
Incorporate modification and accommodations as required by a student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
Utilize various curriculum resources and school-wide assessments to inform instruction
Assess student strengths and areas of development to inform instruction
Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed such as maintaining a grade book
Participate in the multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) program which includes planning and facilitating individualized strategic intervention to address student needs as needed
Engage in school-wide professional development opportunities
Communicate with parents/ guardians
Coordinate class field trips
Participate in activities to ensure a positive school culture
Follow and enforce Alain Locke policies

Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
Able to utilize materials effectively to enhance instruction
Strong time management skills
Able to adapt to different tasks as needed or requested
Demonstrate effective communication skills
Able to use a variety of problem solving techniques
Able to work in a collegial and collaborative manner with school personnel and parents
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree (BA)
Professional Educator License (PEL)
Teaching experience
