INCS Response to CTU Strike

Posted on: October 17, 2019

The Illinois Network of Charter Schools (INCS) is disappointed that the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) has chosen to strike despite being offered a fair package by Chicago Public Schools (CPS), as concluded by two independent factfinders.

While we recognize the contributions and needs of teachers who work hard to create safe and productive learning environments for students, a strike places significant burdens on children, parents, and families. If the CTU were sincere about doing what’s best for children, it would work towards a reasonable resolution and make sure that students remain in school learning. The CTU’s ever-changing list of demands is frustrating to those of us who work with schools every day.

INCS urges the parties to come to an amicable agreement, so that the negative impacts on students are limited and they can return to their classrooms.
