INCS Statement Regarding the Illinois State Charter School Commission

Posted on: June 4, 2019

The Illinois Network of Charter Schools (INCS) is deeply grateful for the extraordinary work and leadership of the Illinois State Charter School Commission, which will conclude its work June 2020. The Illinois State Board of Education will assume the Commission’s work and authorities, which includes overseeing a checks-and-balance system to ensure fair treatment of Illinois’ most vulnerable students and charter public schools. Through its advocacy work in Springfield, INCS has successfully preserved the merit-based appeal route for existing schools and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the 64,700 students served by Illinois’ charter public schools have pathways to meaningful, successful lives.
