ReGeneration, founded in 2016, is a nationally ranked charter program with nine charter schools located in Illinois and Ohio. ReGeneration serves over 1800 students of whom 99% are minority and 86% are low income. U.S. News and World Report’s 2021 School Ranking listed all ReGeneration elementary schools among the top ten charter elementary schools in Illinois. The recent CREDO study from Stanford University named ReGeneration as the top gap busting schools in ELA in the state of Illinois and third in Math. POSITION
We are seeking a Controller to join our Regeneration Schools team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will play a crucial role in ensuring the fiscal integrity and financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nonprofit accounting, financial management, and compliance.

Responsibilities:
Financial Management
Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor annual budgets.
Provide financial forecasts and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare timely and accurate financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant regulatory requirements.
Capacity to manage and communicate financial performance metrics to non-financial audiences

Cash Management:
Manage cash flow to ensure the organization’s liquidity needs are met.
Implement strategies for optimizing cash management and investments.
Audit and Compliance:
Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and reporting requirements.
Grant Accounting:
Oversee the financial aspects of grant management, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance with grant requirements.
Financial Analysis:
Provide in-depth financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and decision-making.
Identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Provide training and professional development opportunities to team members.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
Proven experience as a Controller or in a senior financial management role, preferably in the nonprofit or education sector.
Experience managing multiple entities preferred.
Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
