The UChicago Charter School’s North Kenwood/Oakland campus is named after and located at the juncture of the South Side neighborhoods of North Kenwood and Oakland, historic communities formed by African Americans and others seeking a better life, including high quality educational opportunities for their children. In 2008, North Kenwood/Oakland was honored as the recipient of the Illinois State Federation of Community Schools’ Dimon Distinguished Community Schools Award.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Kindergarten Teacher to deliver ambitious instruction in a classroom that not only incorporates evidence-based analysis of practice in order to assure that all students can achieve at high levels, but also provides a stimulating, challenging, and productive learning environment. Individual will work with the Campus Director, Instructional Coaches, and colleagues to implement the school’s literacy framework and Everyday Math program. At the K-5th grade levels, we value teachers with content area expertise, knowledge and experience in using balanced literacy frameworks and Everyday Mathematics.

Position Qualifications:

Applicant should have a Bachelor’s degree in education and state certification; at least 2 years of urban teaching experience in related field; and proven program planning and development experience. Applicant will be an excellent teacher of students, reflective and receptive to professional feedback and coaching, and possess strong written and oral communication skills.
