Job description
ASPIRA of Illinois seeks to achieve academic excellence for every scholar in a culturally relevant learning environment that empowers scholars through high quality education, youth development and civic engagement. 1,400+ students attend ASPIRA schools * More than 90% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch * Serve diverse population of students predominantly Latino.

ASPIRA School Principal Essential Functions:

Plan, direct, administer and monitor curriculum development, program evaluation, extracurricular activities, personnel management, financial management, emergency procedures, resource scheduling and facilities operations
Develop and evaluate educational program to ensure conformance to state and board standards including programs for students with disabilities and English Language Learners
Lead the implementation, evaluation and development of the school and network curriculum within the parameters of ISBE, Chicago Public Schools and ASPIRA
Demonstrate student gains in Math, English and Science
Be accountable for attendance, retention and graduation
Confer with teachers, students, parents and advisors concerning educational and behavioral problems in school
Establish and maintain relationships with colleges, community, organizations, and other schools to coordinate educational services
Direct preparation of class schedules, cumulative records, attendance reports and annual master schedule of courses.
Interview and recommend teachers and other school personnel in conjunction with network HR
Monitor safety and security in school building and property
Supervise school staff, conduct annual performance evaluations and organize staff development as needed
Prepare and submit required reports as appropriate
Maintain positive, cooperative, and mutually supportive relationships with the all ASPIRA staff, community, administration, parents, and representatives of resource agencies
Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with ASPIRA staff, students, parents, school personnel and agencies.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership and Instruction or a related field
A minimum of four years prior experience as an administrator
Hold a Type 75 Certification
Excellent interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Demonstrate ability to influence others, effectively address audience of all levels and foster collaborative working relationships
Proficient in computer technology
Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred
Travel to other facilities and/or locations * Extended work hours may be required dictated by business needs.
